  1. I looked for a sound file, but none found yet. You make me curious :) Posted 10 years ago
    1. I personally recorded it one night to play it back at different times to see if I could bring more in to photograph but since deleted it. I will see what I can find. Posted 10 years ago

        1. Great find. Unfortunately it is not the same sub species. The pictured one is so loud and obnoxious it is not something you would every expect could be bellowed out of such a little guy! Posted 10 years ago
          1. Darn- he's got it ID'd as Craugastor augusti, but never trust the internet :p. There's more recordings here - https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/65212-Craugastor-augusti under individual observations. You might be able to find a match. Posted 10 years ago
  2. Well I found a sound bite closer to the actual barking cadence and amplitude although this still is at a much lower decibel than what I experienced in the wild.

The nominal species likely includes more than one species, sometimes described as subspecies such as the common barking frog , western barking frog , and eastern barking frog . The epithet ''augusti'' is in honor of renown French zoologist Auguste Duméril.
