      1. Stephen, it turns out this was actually not a species intro, as this photo was earlier:
        Greater Earless Lizard Kind enough to pose with a lovely mountainside background. This was taken on the Grapevine Hills Trail at Big Bend NP. Cophosaurus texanus,greater earless lizard


        Therefore, it is also not a country intro. Sorry for the confusion!

The greater earless lizard is a species of earless lizard endemic to the southwestern United States. It is called "greater" because it grows larger than the earless lizards of the genus ''Holbrookia'', to which it is closely related. While ''C. texanus'' is the only species within its genus, it does have two subspecies.
