Leopard sighting
This leopard came sauntering towards us on the road, in Savute, Botswana. She passed our vehicle and climbed the tree beside us. She spend 2 or 3 minutes scanning for potential prey, before disappearing off into the bush. We tried to second guess her and drove around to where a huge herd of buffalo were grazing, but didn't manage to catch sight of her again.

The African Leopard is a leopard subspecies occurring across most of sub-Saharan Africa. In 2008, the IUCN classified leopards as "Near Threatened", stating that they may soon qualify for the Vulnerable status due to habitat loss and fragmentation. They are becoming increasingly rare outside protected areas. The trend of the population is decreasing.
