  1. Beautiful. In the Netherlands I hear they are quite nervous birds, how did you approach it? Posted 10 years ago
    1. As is always best with bird photography I let the Curlew come to me. I was on a sea wall in North Norfolk and noticed it moving my way so I sat down and waited, luckily it emerged from the marsh in a good position and in good light. Posted 10 years ago

The Eurasian Curlew, "Numenius arquata", is a wader in the large family Scolopacidae. It is one of the most widespread of the curlews, breeding across temperate Europe and Asia. In Europe, this species is often referred to just as "the Curlew", and in Scotland known as the "whaup" in Scots.
