Tweedy's Lewisia I did in fact find the rare plants I was looking for. They really were't hiding :p - walk up the closed forest service road and there they are clinging to the rock faces. These plants have a very limited range, occurring just in the Wenatchee mountains of Central Washington and in a small part of British Columbia.
