Wenatchee desert-parsley Interesting.. apparently this area is know for being an area of serpentine soil - which is poor soil for plant life - few nutrients and an abundance of toxic heavy metals. This explains why the vegetation and trees were rather sparse, even below the tree line. This habitat is uncommon, which makes nearly all of the plants that grow there specific to that particular area. Many are rare and endangered.
