    You're instantly scoring points as I personally believe Madagascar to be one of the most incredible wildlife countries in the world. We've been to Kirindy and it could very well be that we saw the same Fossa :)

  2. Very likely it was the same one. This chap hung around the area where they discarded their rubbish at the camp along with food remains. An interesting place to visit. Managed to see a few lemurs, a lizard of some sort, and of course the Fossa. Such a strange creature!
    I'm a tour operator so do get to see some good places.

The fossa is a cat-like, carnivorous mammal that is endemic to Madagascar. It is a member of the Eupleridae, a family of carnivorans closely related to the mongoose family. Its classification has been controversial because its physical traits resemble those of cats, yet other traits suggest a close relationship with viverrids.
