Texas Bluebonnets The Texas Hill Country is known for it's Bluebonnets.  They are also the state flower. The picture was taken in Lake Buchanan, which is in terrible drought, only 36.8% full. "Lupinus texensis" is a species of lupine which is endemic to Texas. With other related species of lupines also called bluebonnets, it is the state flower of Texas.
