  2. Absolutely brilliant (both the photo, and the gathering of bulls). I would assume it is rather rare to see so many bulls together at once. In Africa, only Impala rams gather in such numbers, and then there is a mixture of age (maybe only 3 older rams, and 7 young rams). Great shot. Love it. Posted 10 years ago
    1. Thank you :) These deer live in a controlled environment at a place called Lyme Park which is owned by the National Trust. It is steeped in history and dates back to 1346 and the deer have been on estate since those times. They were hunted until the property was handed over to the National Trust in 1946. They have 1400 acres of land to roam in and as a result, you often see this many or more together. I was particularly pleased with this shot as it is difficult to get so many in the same frame that are all looking up and not down eating or behind another deer which is so often the case. The red deer is one of the largest deer species. Depending on taxonomy, the red deer inhabits most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Asia Minor, parts of western Asia, and central Asia. It also inhabits the Atlas Mountains region between Morocco and Tunisia in northwestern Africa, being the only species of deer to inhabit Africa.
