Yellow-headed Blackbird

A yellow-headed blackbird observes his surroundings as he picks through the grass for something to eat. Another migratory bird, returning to north Idaho to indicate the onset of spring.

The Yellow-headed Blackbird is a medium-sized blackbird, and the only member of the genus "Xanthocephalus". This bird's song resembles the grating of a rusty hinge.
