Burchell's Zebra - The Odd One Well, this photograph is pretty descriptive in itself. Oddities within Nature and the Animal Kingdom does occur. Scientists have a thousand theories and "solutions", but ultimately these "odd" animals stand out.

Here a black foal is photographed within her herd, with an adult mare "laughing" at her uniqueness. This is not the case though, as a family will never "laugh" or mock with any member of their own. As a matter of fact, it is only man that will mock his own and other species.

Unique alterations in color and pattern is not common, and this shot beautifies how we are all different ... even within the Animal Kingdom. Still, part of a family, this foal does not know better or that she is any different to those around her. Her mother is still her mother. 1. How awesome that you found this unique individual! Posted 10 years ago
    1. Thank you Ferdy. I also enjoyed this moment tremendously ... and have seen the foal a few times after this photo was taken. As you know, there are currently hundreds of experiments being conducted ... in an attempt to alter color and genes of various species. Now you get Golden Oryx, Black Springbok, Black Common Impala ... the list goes on an on. I do not agree with this at all. But somehow man likes the strange and different. Thanks for commenting.
