  1. A gorgeous dog and great photo. I do want to remind you that we do not allow pet photos. This being more of an aid dog I think it is in the gray zone, so I'll let you decide whether to keep it up or not, as a benefit of doubt.

I hope you understand, we have these rules to give the site focus.

    1. Understood. I decided to post this one because it's less of a domestic pet, and more of a tamed wild animal. These dogs live outside and are never treated as pets. Posted 7 years ago
      1. Fair enough, let's keep it up. Posted 7 years ago
  2. One more note: I see you requested the species "Alaskan husky". At JungleDragon we identify at the species level, and the Alaskan Husky is a dog species. Dogs have many races but they are a single species. That's why I identified it as a dog. Posted 7 years ago
    1. Thanks - I was just trying to be as precise as possible. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaskan_Husky) Posted 7 years ago
      1. That article has this line:

        Dog (Canis lupus familiaris)

Which is what I was referring to, all dogs are a single species. It's good though to be precise, it's just that the species system does not go deeper. In that case, you can be more precise in the title and description, as you did.

The domestic dog, is a subspecies of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the mammalian order Carnivora. The term "domestic dog" is generally used for both domesticated and feral varieties. The dog may have been the first animal to be domesticated, and has been the most widely kept working, hunting, and pet in human history. The word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species, as opposed to the word "bitch" for the female of the species.
