Hidden danger One aspect of wildlife that is both horrifying and fascinating is that every step you make can be your last. In this scene, a croc is at the shore of this pond, inching towards the unsuspecting boar, who was getting only closer to the shore itself. It was a slow process to watch, after 30 mins we decided to not wait for the end of it, as the sun was frying us alive. Asia,Crocodylus palustris,Mugger crocodile,Sri Lanka,Yala Click/tap to enlarge

  1. I don't know Ferdy, that crocodile is not that big - I think that the wild pig might have been able to handle himself in a fight! Posted 8 years ago
    1. That may very well be true! It still was confident enough to make an attempt though. Posted 8 years ago

The mugger crocodile is found throughout the Indian subcontinent and the surrounding countries. It is one of the three crocodilians found in India, the others being the gharial and the saltwater crocodile. It is a medium sized crocodile that mostly inhabits freshwater lakes, ponds, sluggish rivers, swamps and marshes.
