Zebra jumping spider
These tiny spiders which are common throughout the UK are certainly one of my favourites. They are unique in many ways. For a start they can jump! when you see one jump it is amazing to see. They also have 4 eyes facing forward unlike other spiders. When you watch them, they turn their heads and around deciding where to head to next. They also prey on other spiders, including other Zebras. They are very clever and cunning hunters.

The zebra spider is a common jumping spider of the Northern Hemisphere. Like other jumping spiders it does not build a web. It has a particularly large pair of forward facing eyes that help it to locate and stalk its prey before pouncing on it.

camouflaged. I found it in my garden and they tend to like white walls or they did in our garden anyway, as i
whenever i saw one it was on this white wall. They are tiny though, so you need a keen eye if looking for them around plants etc ;) Posted 10 years ago
