Giraffe - Natural Symbols
A trio of Giraffe pose in a fabled god-like manner, in all essence, representing the curiosity of wildlife.
For what its worth, the three-headed group consist of all females, with a young bull standing off on his own. Here one can clearly see the difference in horn comparison, shape and size. The females having longer, slender and thin horns, while the bull has thicker, broader horns.
Giraffes have adapted to eating young fresh leaves off the top of trees, thus the long neck. In areas where Giraffe overpopulate an area, the shape of trees will quickly show one that there are too many (the trees will have a very flat top, almost like a table top).
Personally I love to photograph Giraffes, especially in silhouette. They are iconic, just like the Zebra and Elephant.
The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. The giraffe is also noted for its extremely long neck and legs and prominent horns. It stands 5–6 m tall and has an average weight of 1,200 kg for males and 830 kg for females.
