Red backed Jumping Spider
happy dance- happy dance! I got my first jumper :) This little lady threatened me with annihilation with all she was worth (I know it's a girl - the boys are all red on their backs) - she waved her little pedipalps at me until I backed down. She won.

"Phidippus johnsoni", the red-backed jumping spider, is one of the largest and most commonly encountered jumping spiders of western North America. It is not to be confused with the unrelated and highly venomous redback spider.
