It was courtship season for the great crested grebes on lake Kerkini.

They look like those birds in the famous WWF clip that peddle/walk on water in their courtship ritual, could be these birds, but I'm not sure. Posted 10 years ago

  There is a youtube called "BBC Life: The Grebes" that shows what you describe, but it is another species of grebes. I have a clip of this courtship display. I don't have a youtube or gmail account to upload it. I'll probably try to upload it some day. I am working on the photos now. I wanted to add a video of this species' display, but I was not impressed with the quality of the ones available. I'm not sure mine will be any better either.
