I'm fortunate in many ways - there's not too many others around here participating, I have the time to walk and hike quite a lot, I have easy access (2-3hr drive at the most) to an dizzying array of ecosystems - desert to temperate rain forest, ocean to mountain top, and I have an interest in and an eye for the less "sexy" things - not so many mammals, but plants, fungi, insects, many of them tiny and hard to notice.
