Common Agouti
Agoutis in the wild are very shy animals with excellent hearing that flee humans even when approaching them from far away. That and the fact that they hide in dense vegetation makes it hard to capture a wild one on film. This time our patience, and a 500mm lenze, paid off. You can tell it does not see you if their fur is not raised.

Azara's Agouti, "Dasyprocta azarae", is a South American agouti species from the family Dasyproctidae. It is found in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. It is named after Spanish naturalist Félix de Azara.
