From the beginning I identified the insect on ITIS and followed with the proper name of the species as Phymata Americana. That species only lives in North America.

My only concern is that Phymata pennsylvanica looks similar and the range of both species overlaps in Quebec. The difference between the two species is described in the link below. It looks more like Phymata pennsylvanica to me.

I think this one has the prominent notch of Phymata pennsylvanica at the brown stripe rather than the smooth edge of Phymata americana. Posted 10 years ago
