The red-shouldered hawk is a medium-sized buteo. Its breeding range spans eastern North America and along the coast of California and northern to northeastern-central Mexico. It is a permanent resident throughout most of its range, though northern birds do migrate, mostly to central Mexico. The main conservation threat to the widespread species is deforestation.

- You did not share any location info. You are asked to at least share the country in which the photo was taken, since this helps in identifying the species. Even better is to geotag the photo, which you can do using the "Geotag this photo" button.
- You did not identify the species on the photo. To identify the species, use the "Identify species" button. If you do not know the exact species, please share what you do know such as the location and family of species so that others can assist in exact species identification.
