African Elephant - Pool Play
A small family of African Elephant visit a watering hole, as seen in the wilds of Namibia, southwestern Africa.
The old cow (biggest in picture) with all her daughters and one grand-child. Family life within Elephant herds is a thing of beauty. Here two small calves (one belonging to the old cow, and the other to the old cow's oldest daughter, standing to her left) play with great joy in cooling and refreshing water. In the mean time, the old cow's teenage daughter tries to steal a sip of mom's water (under the assumption that everything mom eats of drink, must be good). An active scene with content and pleasure filling these beasts of greatness.

The African bush elephant is the larger of the two species of African elephant. Both it and the African forest elephant have usually been classified as a single species, known simply as the African elephant, but recent evidence has seen the forest elephant classified as a distinct species . Some authorities still consider the currently available evidence as insufficient for splitting African elephants into two species.
