  2. I'm afraid it's not too exciting :p These anemone live buried in sand, unlike most of their kind which prefer to be on rockier areas. The beach I went to had a number of sandy tide pools which at low tide were probably about an inch or two deep. Deep enough to allow the anemone to come out and feed, but not deep enough to distort the them. To get a good photo without a lot of reflections on the water surface I just made sure my angle was good and that my black hat was what was mostly behind the subject. I wouldn't have had to worry about it if my polarizing filter fit this particular lens, but I'm pretty sure it's the wrong size. Posted 10 years ago

Anthopleura artemisia is a species of sea anemone. It is known by a number of common names, including burrowing anemone and moonglow anemone. It was first described to science in 1846 in a volume by James Dwight Dana, reporting on the animals found on the United States Exploring Expedition.
