Sundari mangroves A recent trip to the Bhitarkanika park in Ordisha, India, was my first every trip into a mangrove forest, and i was far from disappointed. The forest has many different species of plant, but the Sundari trees seem to be the most prevalent. :) Geotagged,Heritiera fomes,India,John Rowell,Odisha,Orissa,Wildlife,Winter, adhocphotographer, bhitarkanika Click/tap to enlarge Species introCountry intro

''Heritiera fomes'' is the dominant mangrove tree species of the Sundarbans of Bangladesh and India. ''H. fomes'' is a major timber-producing tree. The tree is threatened by over-harvesting, water diversions in the Ganges Basin, and fluctuations in salinity due to upstream and coastal development in Bangladesh and India.
