  1. Hi John,
    These aren't ruffs. Note the long bill (clearly quite a bit longer than the head), the coral red legs, and the fine white spots on the wing feathers: they're common redshanks.

The common redshank or simply Redshank is an Eurasian wader in the large family Scolopacidae.
