    1. lol.. there really are species that are blobs. This one grows in very distinct cones, which if you ask me, is even neater. They really do look like gumdrops. Posted 10 years ago

    1. though I do occasionally supplement with an LED flashlight, this one was all natural sunlight - just caught it at a perfect moment as it came through the trees and highlighted this little fungi Posted 10 years ago

''Guepiniopsis alpina'', commonly known as the jelly cup, alpine jelly cone, or poor man's gumdrop, is a species of fungus in the family Dacrymycetaceae. The small, gelatinous Fruit bodies are orange and cone or cup shaped. Found in western North America and Iran, the fungus grows on decaying conifer wood.
