Daphnis moorei

Another view of this gorgeous moth, Papua New Guinea is famous for its incredible birds of paradise but I think its Moths should get the same attention (moths of paradise lol)

That's a very good point, they are absolutely gorgeous. That said, I have to ask, did you see any of the birds of paradise? Posted 10 years ago

  Yeah I did but because we were high up in the highlands it was either pouring down with rain or very heavy cloud cover so the conditions for photography were non existent and the birds weren't to happy with the weather either!
  Most of the photo's that you have seen were taken at night in the rain but it didn't effect the moths at all. Posted 10 years ago

The Daphnis moorei

"Daphnis moorei" is a moth of the Sphingidae family. It is known from Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the northern half of Australia. The forewing upperside is similar to "Daphnis hypothous".
