  2. Thanks :). That's how I feel about other people's (wild) cat photos :P.

    I didn't realize how widespread this species is. I get a lot of opportunities with osprey because one of the nearest trails I use goes around a very large lake, mostly right on the shore, so there are good reasons for the osprey to be there and they are a bit less shy around people than they are near other lakes/rivers just because they see so many of us.

The osprey, also called sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey with a cosmopolitan range. It is a large raptor reaching more than 60 cm in length and 180 cm across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts.
