  2. It was a kingfishers paradise... there are 8 different species in these mangroves, O managed to shoot 5 in one day, including two new ones to me! fantastic. I have another shot, less close, with it playing with its food! :) Posted 10 years ago

The collared kingfisher is a medium-sized kingfisher belonging to the family Halcyonidae, the tree kingfishers. It is also known as the white-collared kingfisher or mangrove kingfisher. It has a wide range extending from the Red Sea across southern Asia and Australasia to Polynesia. It is a very variable species with about 50 subspecies.
