    The occurrence of Dicentra cucullaria in Oregon represents an extreme population disjunction and is indicative of a much wider distribution in prehistoric times. The species is today largely confined to the eastern United States. Posted 6 years ago

The Dutchman's breeches

"Dicentra cucullaria" is a perennial herbaceous plant, native to rich woods of eastern North America, with a disjunct population in the Columbia River Basin. The common name Dutchman's breeches derives from their white flowers that look like white breeches.
