Double Barred Finch
This lovely little bird taken next to the South Pine River at a place called Kombartcho Sanctuary a native species plant nursery in Queensland a very peaceful place where the wildlife is very rarely disturbed which is why this finch posed so nicely for me.
The Double-barred Finch is an estrildid finch found in dry savanna, tropical dry grassland and shrubland habitats in northern and eastern Australia. They are sometimes referred to as Bicheno's Finch; and also as Owl Finch, owing to the dark ring of feathers around their faces.
