American Snout Butterfly
This is the only place I have seen this species. Its front legs are modified in a way that make it look like it has four legs and a long snout! The first one found me a few months before, when I put my bike down to look at something else, and it thought my gears were a good place to land. This particular individual was one of many in the area the day it was taken.

The American snout is a member of the Libytheinae subfamily, in the brush-footed butterfly family Nymphalidae. This species is found in both North and South America. The larval host plants are ''Celtis'' spp. on which the eggs are laid singly.
