THE RED WATTLED LAPWINGS MATING
A couple of Red Wattled Lapwings is seen here mating. This is a rare shot as the bird often lives in the plain grounds and flies away due to any movement around. This shot taken from a hide after their location is found.Such shots usually need much patience as the action is not predictable.Still the patience turn out to be very fruitful when such shots are taken. This wild bird is very attractive and its harsh sound is usually heard at night.

The red-wattled lapwing is an Asian lapwing or large plover, a wader in the family Charadriidae. Like other lapwings they are ground birds that are incapable of perching. Usually seen in pairs or small groups and usually not far from water they sometimes form large aggregations in the non-breeding season.
