Leopards on a rock These leopards were found on a rock in Yala National Park. It was actually our third sighting of Leopards in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Leopard is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. Classified as "Endangered" by IUCN, the population is believed to be declining due to numerous threats including poaching for trade and human-leopard conflicts. This subspecies is colloquially known as Kotiya in Sinhala and Siruththai in Tamil.
