Portrait of a White-tailed Deer
This doe crossed the road in front of me while I was out exploring new areas from my truck this afternoon after work. I slowly pulled up and she stood, albeit timidly, at the side of the road. The light was poor, but there was an interesting back light on her neck and ears, so I took a few shots. It is certainly not my favorite deer photo, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. Captured in rural north Idaho.

The white-tailed deer, also known commonly as the whitetail and the Virginia deer, is a medium-sized species of deer native to North America, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia, where it predominately inhabits high mountain terrains of the Andes.
