Cute purple bug This was taken with a 'Nifty Fifty', reverse mounted to a D7000. I was trying to get some cool droplet photos and spotted this little guy out for a stroll on some long grass. 1. That's some fabulous color! I'm trying to help with identifying the species but no luck so far. Posted 10 years ago
  2. That is the natural color and the photo wasn't edited in any way. I'll be curious to see if anyone can identify the species.

The Oriental beetle is a beetle about 0.7 - 1.1 cm long, with mottled, metallic brown- and black-colored elytra and a similarly-colored thorax and head during the adult stage. During the larval stage the oriental beetle can be identified by the parallel line raster pattern.
