It's hard to find a tree in the Pantanal that doesn't have a bird of prey on guard. This lovely specimen is a roadside Hawk, along with the Savannah Hawk a common sight in the area.

The Roadside Hawk is a relatively small bird of prey found in Latin America. This vocal species is often the most common raptor in its range. It has many subspecies and is sometimes placed in the monotypic genus ''Rupornis'' instead of ''Buteo''.
