  1. I like this photo because it is sharp and clean, and it is composed well. There are no major distractions drawing your attention away from the elk, like a tree branch or an unnatural object. The lighting is good, you did not over-expose the photo, and the elk is in an interesting pose (and not looking at the camera).

    Some other things you could work on when sharing your photos is if you know the full name of species in your photo, you can identify it by clicking on the "identify species" button to the right of your photo. In this case, elk, the common name, or Cervus canadensis, the full binomial Latin name, will work. The elk or wapiti is one of the largest species within the deer family, Cervidae, in the world, and one of the largest land mammals in North America and Eastern Asia. This animal should not be confused with the still larger moose to which the name "elk" applies in British English and in reference to populations in Eurasia.
