  2. Hi Ferdy sorry to stick my nose in but i,m pretty sure this is a Verreaux,s Eagle Owl ( Giant Eagle Owl). I photographed one while in Kruger last year. Posted 10 years ago

Verreaux's eagle-owl is a member of the family Strigidae and is the largest African owl. This owl is the world's fourth heaviest living owl, after Blakiston's fish owl, the Eurasian eagle-owl and the tawny fish owl, and is also the fourth longest living owl, after the great gray, Blakiston's fish and Eurasian eagle-owls.
