
The yellow-legged gull, sometimes referred to as western yellow-legged gull, is a large gull of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, which has only recently achieved wide recognition as a distinct species.

Looking at your photo, the bird has this bright yellow eye, while one of the field marks of caspian is that it usually has a small "bullethole" dark eye. Besides, Caspian would really be a rarity in southern Spain, not really what the descricption of the photo conveys. So I suspect that this is in fact a yellow-legged gull, which is the common big gull of the Mediterranean shores. Posted 5 years ago
