Mule Deer Browse - National Bison Range, Montana
Two mule deer bucks browse through some willows on an open hillside during a heavy snow storm. The deer really only do two things during this time of year, eat and rest. Captured in the National Bison Range Wildlife Refuge, Montana.
The mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) is a deer indigenous to western North America; it is named for its ears, which are large like those of the mule. Two subspecies of mule deer are grouped into the black-tailed deer.
