Short Eared Owl This owl was quite relaxed, so his "ears" aren't visible. Short Eared owls are day flying owls and this year Leque Island where this was taken seems to be a bit of an owl hot spot. In addition to at least 4-5 of these guys there were several long eared owls sleeping the day away in the dense brush.
