Gemsbok - Stare of the doubled Oryx These two Oryx / Gemsbok bulls pose in a classic defensive / alerted manner, looking into two directions at the same time.

This antelope is on the Namibian Coat of Arms and form part of the National Emblem. This is due to their ability to survive in a harsh and desert environment. They only need to drink water once every 4 days, and the markings on their nose will automatically convert hot air (desert) breathed in to be converted into cool air acceptable by the lungs. They are tough, and beautiful. Gemsbok,Geotagged,Namibia,Oryx gazella, adapt, beautiful, elegant, hardy, horns, markings, striking, tough Click/tap to enlarge

The gemsbok or gemsbuck is a large antelope in the ''Oryx'' genus. It is native to the arid regions of southern Africa, but formerly some authorities included the East African Oryx as a subspecies. Its current population in South Africa is 373,000.
