Thanks Ferdy, it was so odd because I had never seen one and they had a rescued one at a nature center that I visited that morning and I was intrigued with the bird, and sure enough, a couple hours later I walked out of a restaurant and there was one sitting on a post - I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to go for a long, highly cropped shot, but thanks to using good L quality Canon glass, I was able to salvage the shot. Posted 10 years ago

The loggerhead shrike is a passerine bird. It is the only member of the shrike family endemic to North America; the related northern shrike occurs north of its range but also in the Palearctic.
