    1. There is a group of anhingas and cormorants that fish less than a half mile from my house and I spend so much time around them and have slowly approached them over time. They all now seem to allow me within touching distance. I love just hanging out by them and seeing them turn their back on me when I am right by them indicative of their comfort with my presence. The Anhinga, sometimes called Snakebird, Darter, American Darter, or Water Turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word "anhinga" comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.
