  1. The wing patch is not visible here so it could also be a mottled duck (Anas fulvigula) or an American black duck (Anas rubripes) although the latter should be darker.

  2. I was a bit unsure in that all of the ducks that were swimming about in this spot were definitely mallard, but I was a bit suspicious of the coloration in that the females usually are not colored quite this way. Thanks. Posted 10 years ago
