Direct eye contact with a cormorant
A group of double-crested cormorants regularly fish within a half mile from my Florida house. Over time, by slowly approaching them, they have accepted my very close presence to the point that they will turn their back on me when I am within touching distance. I think their eyes are mesmerizing so my mission here was to capture those eyes by using a narrow DOF to bring the viewer's eyes directly to the eyes of the bird.

The double-crested cormorant is a member of the cormorant family of seabirds. It occurs along inland waterways as well as in coastal areas, and is widely distributed across North America, from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska down to Florida and Mexico.
