Sri Lankan Leopard duo in Wilpaththu, Sri Lanka This photo has been passed around to every driver in the park. Obviously not because it is any good (too far), but because the leopard we were following was meeting another leopard, which was unexpected. It is unclear to me whether the 2nd leopard is a cub or a mate. Asia,Panthera pardus kotiya,Sri Lanka,Sri Lankan Leopard,Wilpaththu Click/tap to enlarge

The Sri Lankan Leopard is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. Classified as "Endangered" by IUCN, the population is believed to be declining due to numerous threats including poaching for trade and human-leopard conflicts. This subspecies is colloquially known as Kotiya in Sinhala and Siruththai in Tamil.
