Uinta Ground Squirrel
A lot of people mistake these squirrels for prairie dogs, but none the less, they are simply squirrels that live in the ground. They also look like the Columbian ground squirrel but do not have as much red in their pelage. Picture taken at Slough Creek, YNP.
The Uinta ground squirrel, commonly called a "chisler" and "Potgut" in northern Utah, is a species of rodent native to the western United States.
