Uinta Ground Squirrel A lot of people mistake these squirrels for prairie dogs, but none the less, they are simply squirrels that live in the ground. 4. It is very pretty, however I think is not a Uinta chipmunk. Uinta have a pattern of red back with black and white stripes (see my spotting: http://www.jungledragon.com/image/33768/uinta_chipmunk.html)
...are you sure this is a chipmunk at all? it actually looks to me more like a marmot (?)

  5. Hi Sara: Now I see that you have ID correctly as Uinta ground squirrel but that the program has somehow confused it with Uinta Chipmunk in the species part. Maybe you can ask fchristant to introduce the right species by hand (Urocitellus armatus): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uinta_ground_squirrel Posted 9 years ago
  6. She was right - it is definitely a Uinta Ground Squirrel - I have a photo of one as well that I will add and you can see that they are the same species. Posted 8 years ago
