Sri Lankan Leopard in Wilpaththu, Sri Lanka
Panic ensued in Wilpaththu. A radio call came in mentioning the spotting of a leopard. Jeeps were speeding to the scene, and as we arrived, there was a traffic jam. We had to wait 20 minutes to get access to the spotting, meanwhile I was envisioning wild and spectacular images of this creature on top of the park's food chain. Instead we found this silly cat displaying his testicles to us. It reminded us very much of our own cat, except it doesn't have testicles (anymore).

The Sri Lankan Leopard is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. Classified as "Endangered" by IUCN, the population is believed to be declining due to numerous threats including poaching for trade and human-leopard conflicts. This subspecies is colloquially known as Kotiya in Sinhala and Siruththai in Tamil.
